lost (2018)
Medium: Photography.
Techniques: Mastered the organization of a series. Struggled with bright exposure when editing.
Inspiration: The photographer Matty Vogel does a lot of similar coloring and urban series. I wanted to do the same, but add my own twist. I was also inspired by the television show Insecure and the way their transitions are filmed.
Evolution: Pretty straightforward. I immediately knew what I wanted these photos to look like as soon as I took them and they came out better than I imagined.
ReDo: I would try to shoot from a wider angled lens.
Common Thread: Bold coloring of highlights/shadows. How films inspire me.

disappear here (2018)
Medium: Photography.
Techniques: Mastered the editing of shadows. Struggled with the use of blacks.
Inspiration: This photo wasn't really inspired by anything. I just shot the image and ended up liking it a lot.
Evolution: Not much. I stuck with the same coloring from the RAW image to the finished product.
ReDo: I would have tried to capture the lower half of the artist's body.
Common Thread: Bold use of color. Sharp highlights.

sleep paralysis (2017)
Medium: Photography.
Techniques: Mastered the clarity of the audience. Struggled with smoothing 'noise' and clarity of the subject.
Inspiration: I once saw a photo like this with hands reaching out towards the artist, and I wanted to recreate it and make it my own. It came out better than I expected.
Evolution: I experimented with many different colors for the shadows and highlights until I eventually settled on these. I also used an expander on the crowd and decided to not expand the image in the end.
ReDo: Try to shoot on a lower ISO to eliminate the amount of noise and shoot from a farther angle.
Common Thread: Bold colors and sharp highlights.

thirteen (2017)
.Medium: Photography.
Techniques: Mastered controlling motion blur and sharpening the subject. Struggled with smoothing the "noise" within the photo.
Inspiration: I wanted to challenge myself to capture a crowd shot that displayed the emotions spectators felt from the music.
Evolution: I took multiple photos at different angles before I was satisfied with this one. For editing, I decided to go with a traditional "blue and yellow" highlight/shadow look, but make it appear more unique.
ReDo: I would've tried to shoot a more downward angle to get a better distinction of surface and placement of the subjects.

hazey (2017)
Medium: Photography.
Techniques: Mastered editing a new focus point & dealing with motion blur. Struggled with making the coloring of the background subtle.
Inspiration: Phoebe Fox takes many photos with sharp highlights and bold colors, I wanted to accomplish something similar that still matched my style.
Evolution: For some reason, I knew I needed a photo like this one after seeing the contrast of colors in the artist's outfit. I challenged myself to capture a photo of the artist jumping when capturing the shot.
ReDo: I would make the background more muted and "unclear" to allow for a stronger focus point.
Common Thread: Bold highlights and how music inspires me.

begin (2017)
Medium: Photography.
Techniques: Mastered the rule of thirds, depth of field, and control of motion blur. Struggled with exposure and coloring of photo.
Inspiration: The place I live. I've lived in Colorado my whole life and I have never really used its nature to drive my creative ability.
Evolution: I was on a drive to Breckenridge and I wanted to capture a landscape shot that was a bit different. I used a UV filter to create the "purple" look and continuously took pictures until I was happy with what I had.
ReDo: I would have increased the highlights/whites a bit to make the overall photo appear brighter.
Common Thread: Visual representation of where I live. A little part of me.

pothole (2017)
Medium: Photography.
Techniques: Mastered rule of thirds and subtle coloring. Struggled with contrast coloring and focus point.
Inspiration: Tyler the Creator's album Flower Boy inspired the coloring for this photo. The flower in her mouth derived from the motif of nature/bees in the album.
Evolution: I started off with taking many photos in front a garden. I didn't like how any of them came out, so I added the flower to add a little edge to the concept. The coloring, however, came natural to me.
ReDo: I would've shot from a little farther away to increase the depth of field and have a full background of flowers/plants.
Common Thread: The use of the color yellow and visual representation of how music drives my creativity in photography.

sixteen (2017)
Medium: Photography.
Techniques: Mastered the use of an external flash. Struggled with taking a picture of myself with depth of field.
Inspiration: Ian Simpson uses unnaturally bold highlights and shadows & grid format. This artist creates many different forms of art from music to movies and he sees the world the way I want to see it.
Evolution: My original idea was to have a cluttered mess of things that represent me as my self-portrait. I decided to go out of my comfort zone and take a picture of myself. I don't like to be in front of the camera often and the fear of how I see myself might not be how others see me.
ReDo: I would try to incorporate the background of the yellow more. I originally wanted the yellow to be one of the main focuses, but it ended up being one of the least important.
Common Thread: The use of the color yellow and visual representation of me as a person.
